Alexander Suvorov

Alexander Suvorov graduated with honors from the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music School and then attended the Gnessin Music Academy, from which he graduated in 1990, while in 1988 he was honored as a laureate of the All-Russian Compention for Percussion Instruments. Since 1991 he has taught in the percussion department at Gnessin.

Suvorov regularly sits on jurists of Russian and international percussion and wind instrument competitions, and conducts master classes both at home and abroad. He has although published several works on percussion performance.

He joined the RNO in 1990, and since 2013 has been the principal of the percussion section.

Suvorov regularly participates in creative projects with the Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music, Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra, musicAeterna, and others. During his tenure with the RNO, he has had the honor of performing with many of the world's finest conductors and musicians, and has performes at BBC Proms, the Edinburgh Festival, Saltzburg Festival, and at classical music festivals throughout Europe and the US. His percussion performances have been widely recorded with the RNO on Deutsche Grammophon, Virgin Classics, Pentatone Classics and others.
