Italian conductor Nicola Luisotti continues a string of debuts in the world's major opera houses. His 2003 North American debut in Toronto (Un ballo in maschera) led to multiple invitations from the San Francisco Opera (La forza del destino) , the Houston Grand Opera (Aida), the Seattle Opera (Macbeth) and the Los Angeles Opera (Carmen and later Pagliacci). His European career is moving just as quickly, with a spectacular debut in Stuttgart(Il trovatore) followed by the Paris Opera (La traviata and later Otello), the Bavarian State Opera (Tosca) and La Scala (Verdi's Oberto, recorded for DVD on Dynamic Records); upcoming are his Covent Garden debut with Il trovatore and his first Don Carlo for his debut in Geneva, as well as debuts at other northern European theaters in a variety of repertoire. He has conducted in most of the major Italian theaters such as Trieste, Parma, Genoa and the Arena di Verona.
