Artyom Kukayev Artyom Kukayev is a violist with the Russian National Orchestra, a position he has held since 2005. Prior to joining the RNO, he was a member of chamber orchestra "Moskovia." He is a graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory, where he also completed postgraduate study with Professor G. I. Odinets.

Artyom is an inventor and master craftsman who has developed a wide variety of electro-acoustic string instruments made of aged maple. The range of instruments includes violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, guitar-viola, bass guitar, baritone and five-string bowed viola. With his father Alexander, he holds several patents for instruments made in their Moscow workshop. The Kukayev-Kireyev Duo (electric viola and electric guitar) performs programs of popular and classical music that range from Bach to bossa nova, including original compositions and arrangements by guitarist Vladimir Kireyev. The Duo, which also plays acoustic viola and guitar, plays a wide repertoire at festivals and special events. Their programs also feature Russian popular and folk melodies, American jazz and blues, and Spanish guitar classics. Other instrumentalists sometimes join the Duo in presenting the compositions of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla.

Vladimir Kireyev (guitar) has been part of the creative life of the Russian National Orchestra since 1993. His daily duties are administrative, however he has participated in many eclectic ensembles of the orchestra as both guitarist and vocalist. In 2000 he was part of the first RNO chamber ensemble to perform on tour in Beijing and Taipei. A self-taught musician, he won first prize in the 1985 "Musical Autumn" festival of popular music. Since that time he has played both electric and acoustic guitar in various Moscow bands such as "April." His RNO partnership with violist Artyom Kukayev features classical and popular music.
