Musical Ambassadors in Napa

This summer, twelve RNO musicians were resident at Festival Napa Valley, acting as coaches and performers, and serving as musical ambassadors.

Among the musicians were Alexei Bruni, violin; Maxim Rubtsov, flute; Vladislav Lavrik, trumpet; Andrey Rubtsov, oboe and conductor (and RNO alum); Tatiana Porshneva, violin; Ekaterina Tsareva, violin; Olesya Gavrikova, cello; Gennady Krutikov, double bass; Alexey Serov, French horn; Ilya Melikhov, percussion; Viktoria Orlova, viola; and Mikhail Korzhev, piano.

All served as teachers at the Festival Napa Valley Blackburn Music Academy, offering master classes to emerging professional musicians participating in the summer academy, and leading chamber ensembles, which together offered a dozen free public concerts to the Napa community.

The musicians also performed in several of the festival's mainstage concerts, including in the debut performance of a new arrangement  of John Corigliano's Pied Piper Fantasy, arranged for chamber orchestra by Andrey Rubtsov. A video of the performance is linked below.
