Reviews
Ambito Financiero
José Serebrier masterfully directed the Russian National Orchestra… noted for their concentrated and passionate attitude toward whatever music they are playing... In Beethoven’s Egmont overture, one could feel the intensity of their bows and the clarity of the woodwinds... Tchiakovsky’s Concerto for Violin in D major had in Alexei Bruni a first-class soloist with a magnificent and captivating sound, perfect intonation and rich virtuosity... Dvorak’s beautiful Eighth Symphony was a veritable feast… the strings were strong, and the bells rang with an overwhelming perfection… the woodwind solos of the woodwinds were no less remarkable… The Orchestra gave three encores in response to the audience’s standing ovations… [as to the final one], it would be difficult to imagine a better version of Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance…

To mark its 70th year, [Montevideo's] Cultural Center of Music opened the 2012 season with a concert featuring the great Russian National Orchestra, conducted by Maestro José
Serebrier.... In the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, soloist and RNO concertmaster Alexei Bruni was brilliant... extraordinarily expressive... intimate and controlled. ...In Glazunov's Symphony No. 4... Serebrier displayed an expressiveness that caused the audience to demand two exceptional encores from the orchestra. The first was Astor Piazzolla's beautiful Oblivion Tango, in which the principal oboe of the Russian National Orchestra, Vitaly Nazarov, gave a magnificent performance.

From the first moments an intense atmosphere of communication was created between the listeners and the artists... The concert opened with Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, its powerful initial chords captivating the audience with the strength and beauty of the orchestra’s sound… [During] Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto… many in the audience swayed to the rhythm of the music... The great orchestral tuttis and the melancholy song led into the vertiginous finale, after which the audience exploded in exuberant applause…
