A Rare Interview with Mikhail Pletnev

In August and September, RNO Founder and Artistic Director Mikhail Pletnev led the orchestra in several performances at the InClassica International Music Festival, which for the first time in its 10-year history was held in Dubai. Pletnev sat down for a rare interview with TASS, and talked about the RNO's performances in Dubai, as well as his vision for classical music.

You can watch the RNO's September 3 performance from the festival here.

It features violinist Sergei Dogadin performing Alexey Shor's Violin Concerto No. 3, "Four Seasons of Manhattan," as well as Saint-Saëns' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso for Violin and Orchestra, op.28. The final piece of the concert is Glazunov' The Seasons, op.67.

What They’re Saying

"I saw the greatest orchestra in the world play Friday night. If you think that's hyperbole, ask anyone who was in Yardley Hall that night. The Russian National Orchestra is the Rolls-Royce of orchestras, no ordinary ensemble."
