Audio Books Released

In connection with World Children’s Day, the Russian National Orchestra and PENTATONE announced the release of two classical music audiobooks: Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Sophia Loren, and Pedro y el lobo, narrated by Antonio Banderas.

Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf is the world's most famous children’s story built around classical music. Designed to introduce young audiences to symphony orchestras and their instruments, it showcases Prokofiev’s superb ability to bring a simple story to life, giving each character a recognizable motif and instrumental color.

These recordings, conducted by Kent Nagano, were originally released in 2004 as part of the RNO’s widely acclaimed Peter and the Wolf and Wolf Tracks project, for which the RNO became the first orchestra in Russian history to win a Grammy Award.
