The RNO opened its 9th Grand Festival in Moscow yesterday with a performance in Tchaikovsky Concert Hall conducted by founder and Artistic Director Mikhail Pletnev

The concert's featured soloist was Lucas Debargue, the French pianist who took fourth place in the 2015 Tchaikovsky International Competition, yet won first place in the hearts of Moscow audiences. It was Debargue's first Moscow performance since the Tchaikovsky Competition.

The concert included works by Scriabin, Bizet and Ravel.

"It is my first time on stage with maestro Mikhail Pletnev," said Debargue. "But I know his orchestra very well; I listen to its recordings quite often. I like Pletnev's interpretations of musical works, and I am happy that I have been able to work with the RNO, and that the maestro himself was on the conductor's dais."
