The Magic Continues

A 2019 Magic of Music concert.

On December 10, 2020, the RNO presented a Magic of Music holiday concert to a socially distanced audience at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, and to music lovers everywhere through the Russian Virtual Concert Hall Livestream program.

For 24 years, the RNO’s Magic of Music concerts, sponsored by Chevron Neftegaz, have brought the joy of music and artistic expression to children in Moscow orphanages and facilities for the disabled.

The holiday concert paired RNO musicians with talented young artists from the Voronova New Names Foundation, with six standout fellows selected to perform onstage with the RNO. The soloists were Maria Slashchyova (cello), Sofia Khuskivadze-Deyeva (cello), Sofia Mokhonoshina (clarinet), Alexander Rublyov (trumpet), Anastasia Klyucheryova (piano), and Yekaterina Dvoretskaya (harp), who performed with RNO Principal Flutist Maxim Rubtsov.

The concert was conducted by RNO violinist Alexei Sobolev.

Information about the Magic of Music program can be found in this post from last year, as well as on the Russian Arts Foundation website.

What They’re Saying

"In a modern classical world, rife with reports of under-funded and dying ensembles, curtailed schedules and shrinking audiences, the foundation and continued growth of [the Russian National Orchestra] seems not only miraculous; it just may be the most important cultural story of our time."
