It is with great sadness that the RNO notes the passing of a superb artist and a musician. Vyacheslav Pavlovich Pachkayev, a trombonist, passed away in June.

Pachkayev was a beloved member of the orchestra's "Old Guard," having performed with the RNO for over 30 years – since its very first concert in 1990.

Yet Pachkayev, aside from being a valued musician and friend, and a devoted RNO member to his core, was also a passionate photographer. Over the years, he captured many important moments from the orchestra's life as seen from his perspective back stage or from the brass section. We share a few of those memories below.

It is always bittersweet to look back on life and ponder all that has passed us by, yet the RNO will always cherish its fond memories of Vyacheslav, and all the members of the RNO express their deepest sympathies for his family and loved ones.
